"Life inspires me. People inspire me. Movement, dreams, emotion, certain times of the day inspire me. Words, sounds, visuals inspire me. Anything that can conjure up some sort of feeling inside me can potentially inspire me to create art. I express many things through my art," Vèrta Reyes explains when asked what is the inspiration behind her art.

As a young, self-taught artst, Vèrta has always loved art in all its forms. Working mainly with oils she has explored other mediums such as charcoal, ink, collage, mixed media and photography. Her professional experiences include several exhibitions, commissioned work and individual sales. Influenced by such names as Salvador Dalí, Amedeo Modigliani and Ivánn Bejarano Gómez, Vèrta's passion for life is reflected in her work: "My work changes with me, it's grown up with me and will continue to change and evolve throughout my life, because it is so tied to my life and my personality, emotions, being."

When asked "what does being an artist mean to you," she says, "It means that I'm living a dream. I've wanted to be an artist since I was little, and a surreal happiness set over me the moment I realized that I am an artist, that it's not some far off goal. For me it is a state of being, an ongoing and changing state of being." Vèrta's next big subject is Spain, where she will be relocating in March.
